DIY or hire someone to do it for you?

That is a question I’m asked regularly when I’m talking with prospective clients.

The answer is: it depends.

You see, not everyone’s business is the same.

If you have a 7-figure business or one achieving that level rapidly, the answer is most likely going to be to hire someone, either internally or as an outside expert. As the owner, you’re too busy to do all the marketing. Yes, you need to stay involved and help with the strategy and planning, but you shouldn’t be the one creating the ads and the images, etc.

Whether you go with an internal person or an outside company all depends on if you have someone with the marketing skills on your staff or not.

An internal person alone needs to understand strategy as well as how to do the doing. Without the strategy, you’re not going to get steady predictable growth. What about doing nothing and hoping the online world goes away?

Today, my favorite clothing store was having a sale and I stopped in to get some shirts from a brand that I really like. I was told the brand was out of business (luckily for me the store still had some in stock).

But this company had been in business for 100 years…What happened?

My guess is the world changed around them and they didn’t adapt.

Don’t let something like that happen to you.
