How To Find New Customers with Facebook

One of the first questions people have about using Facebook for marketing is how to use it to find new customers. So my aim today is to show you exactly how to use Facebook to attract new customers who are ready and willing to hand you their money.

In my last article, I wrote about “What Good Is Facebook” and I listed several options that you can use Facebook for. If you missed it click here to check it out. And in that article, I shared that there are only three ways to grow your business.

  1. Get new customers
  2. Get your existing customers to buy more
  3. Get your existing customers to buy more often.

In this article, we’re going to talk about everyone’s favorite topic. And I do mean everyone!

Getting New Customers

It’s amazing to me that no matter how much or little someone is growing they always want new customers.

And Facebook is a great place to go looking for these customers.

It is a cost-effective way to find them and put yourself in front of new people.

First things first. What does it take to do this well?

It all starts with knowing who you want to talk to.

The more you know about your ideal customer and the more information you give Facebook the better job they can do finding them for you.

This may mean sitting down with a pen and paper and writing out what you know about your customers and asking yourself questions about them.

Many of my clients have a superficial knowledge of their ideal customer when we’re first getting started.

They may know male or female and age and maybe income, but for Facebook, we’re looking for more detail.

  • What books are they reading?
  • What celebrities do they follow?
  • What tools (software, products, etc.) do they use at home or in business?
  • What events do they attend?
  • What hobbies do they participate in?
  • What associations do they belong to?
  • And . . .

The next step (and arguably the most important one) is: What Are You Going To Offer Them?

This might be something free or it might be a great deal on something you’re selling. But whatever it is, it needs to be something that they want.

This may seem like a no-brainer but if no one wants what you’re selling what good is it to promote it?

This takes some thought and planning, but once you get it right Facebook will serve you more leads and customers than you can handle.

Finally, you must put a solid system in place to convert.

Many times it takes more than one encounter with you to move someone from I’ve never heard of you to here’s my credit card take my money.

When you leave this process up to chance you’re going to get limited results.

This doesn’t mean you have to set up a multi-step online funnel to move people through, but it does mean that there is a second and maybe third step or possibly even more.

It’s easiest to just send the new people into your existing sales process.

How do you follow up now? What’s the step after that?

When you do this you don’t have to create another way to sell.

Over time, you can create an online sales process if you like but you don’t have to have one to get started.

As you can see, there are multiple steps to moving people from stranger to customer.

Getting new customers is one of the most expensive activities in both time and money you can engage in, but without new customers entering your system your business is dying.

In the next article, we’ll talk about how you can use Facebook to supplement your email marketing and how you can ramp up your email marketing results as well as your Facebook marketing results.

Have a great day!
