Social Media – A FREE tool for growing your business.

Social Media Tools For Growing Your Business

Chances are you have heard about social media. (LinkedIn and Facebook, anyone?) You may have even tried it with a not-so-good outcome.  Say no more…. Social media is about to become your best friend.

There are many tools you have at your disposal with all the social media platforms but today I’m going to talk about two uses of “free” social media on two different platforms.

Learn about another business or a potential client.

If you’re selling in a one to one situation, you want to know as much as you about the person before you meet. What do they like? What are they interested in? How do they sell their products now?  And so on.

Using Facebook and LinkedIn can give you a feel for a company and how they do business.

Look them up. If you use Gmail or Google Apps there is a plugin called Rapporative. When you point at an email address it brings up the person’s LinkedIn profile right there. You can get a summary and if you want more information one click takes you to their LinkedIn profile.

You can look at how active they are, what they talk about, and get a feel for their business.

You can also look up their business page and personal page on Facebook.

Using these tools, you have access to more information about your prospects than you ever had before.

There is no reason to go into any meeting without knowing about the person you’re going to be talking to.

Using Facebook is to build your audience.

Why do you want to build your audience you ask?

To grow your business.

When you’re first getting started, making a sale is all that matters. Until you sell something you don’t worry about growing your audience.

But . . . Once you have your business established you’re going to want to reach out to more people.

It is much simpler to grow when people know, like, and trust you.

With Facebook and LinkedIn, to some degree, you can start relationships with people around the world and get to know them.

And more importantly, they get to know you.

As they see your posts consistently, a digital relationship begins to form.

Trust is built over time.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve met and talked with people and they aren’t interested in using Facebook or social media. We talk and go our separate ways.

Then we meet again, and talk, and it happens again. The difference is, this time, they ask me questions about how to use social media. Now they are using social media and starting to see progress.

You see, they see me getting results and they hear about others getting results and they want to know how they can see the same success.

This happens regularly.

I know you can’t take a Facebook like to the bank, but it is a way of filtering out people who are interested in what you’re doing. Plus it’s pretty non-committal on their end. They don’t feel like they’ve done anything.

Done in an organized, strategic way you’re posting doesn’t have to take long. 1 hour a week and less than 15 minutes a day, and you could be building your business into the future.

If you would like to learn more about Facebook, schedule a 30 minute Free Facebook Consultation call. We can either develop a strategy for you to use in growing your presence or if you use Facebook already we can evaluate what you’re doing now and develop a strategy for moving forward. No pressure.
