This is a question I’m asked regularly.
After all, people tell me there are many other ways to advertise online like:
- Snapchat
- Youtube
- Google AdWords
- Plus so many more…
These are the obvious competitors to Facebook and there are more and more being developed all the time. There are too many to list.
First, let me define what I mean when I say Facebook.
After all, it’s a huge platform and it includes more than just the Facebook newsfeed which is what most are familiar with.
The Facebook ads platform includes:
- The Facebook Newsfeed
- Facebook Stories
- Facebook Messenger
- Instagram Stories
- The Audience Network-Apps Facebook can display ads in that are off the Facebook platform.
As you can see the Facebook newsfeed is only a small part of the Facebook platform.
What makes this powerful is the number of people that use one or more of these apps every day.
How Many?
For starters, over 2,000,000,000 people use Facebook every month and over 1,000,000,000 use Instagram every month for a total of over 3,000,000,000 and it’s growing at a pace of 500,000 new users every day.
These numbers are impressive and when you add to this the fact that the average user spends 20 minutes a day on Facebook that gives you an idea of why I recommend using Facebook.
Powerful Targeting.
Now pair up the number of users with the data Facebook has on all of us and you get a powerful one-two punch. Facebook knows what you do on all the platforms they own, and they also know what you do on many of the websites you visit. There are few if any secrets from Facebook online.
Now that may scare you or if you’re a marketer it may excite you.
After all, the best ads put in front of someone who doesn’t care won’t get the response you want.
What does work is matching the perfect message to the perfect person, and Facebook does this better than any other platform.
You can also upload your customer list or your prospect list and if you have more than 100 of them you can target them with Facebook ads too.
Results:
All of this lets Facebook deliver results to its advertisers.
Facebook wants you to be successful with your ads. It’s their goal for you to profit from your investment. That way you will continue to advertise, and you might even increase the amount of money you spend with them.
The audiences on Facebook and Instagram have been conditioned to buy. Facebook makes it easy for readers to click on posts and go where you want them too, and many do regularly.
It’s not uncommon for us to return on ad spend of 2,3,4,5 times or more for every dollar spent. And if you factor in the growth of your audience it can exceed these numbers.
Ease of use:
This may be hard for many of you to believe, but it is possible to create your own ads and target the people you want yourself.
Yes, you do need to have some technical skills and to get results you need to understand what moves people from “I’ve never heard of you” to “Here’s my credit card please take my money”. Once you’ve developed these skills you can do it yourself.
Think of it, you have access to over 3 Billion people and you can do it all yourself.
Cost:
I know Facebook ads are more expensive than they were in the past, but where else can you spend $1 a day and reach hundreds of people every day.
Now that’s not free, but if you can’t afford to spend $1 a day on your business you might want to look into what your business is and you might want to consider making changes.
And if you want to scale up and reach millions to 10s of millions of people you can on the same platform.
Last Thoughts:
The Facebook ads platform is much more than “just” Facebook. It includes Facebook Messenger, Instagram, and Whatsapp along with Facebook. From now on when you hear Facebook broaden the platforms you’re thinking of.
There are massive audiences of people checking Facebook every day looking for what you’re selling.
You can reach them on one platform, and you can do it affordably.
Have a great day!
