Go Social Experts is dedicated to helping businesses grow and strategically increase their profits through designing and implementing effective social media marketing systems.
Over the next couple of weeks, I’m going to outline the Go Social Experts Success Formula.
Everyone who uses social media to grow their business needs certain components in order to be effective.
Step 1: Be There—A properly configured profile with a relevant message.
You can’t be successful using social media if you don’t have a presence. I’m going to suggest that you need to be present on at least three social media platforms. These can include Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, a blog, email, Pinterest, YouTube, etc. You choose.
Social media, when done well, can bring large numbers of people to any place you want to bring them—on the Internet or to a physical location.
What you talk about and what your profiles look like are two of the core pieces you need in order to have an effective social media presence.
By having an effective social media presence, you can save staff resources and, more importantly, have your social media platforms act as a salesperson for you 24 x 7 x 365. If you have a sales team in your organization, your social media presence can help attract more people who are ready to buy so that your sales team is more efficient in closing sales.
The cost of having someone set up your social media presence can vary widely. You can have your son or daughter, or a staff person, put it together with a few hours work. They spend all their time online, right? Or you can have a social media company construct an on-line presence for you company for several hundred to a few thousand dollars that looks great, but doesn’t move people closer to buying from you. Or you can do it all yourself. You have time at night, right? Working long after regular work hours, figuring out how to do it and what goes where.
But what does a poorly configured social media presence cost you?
Think about your social media presence in terms of a salesperson. You could have a salesperson working 100% on commission, but if he or she isn’t producing, what value does that person bring you? Exactly none. Wouldn’t you prefer to pay the salesperson and have him or her produce results for your business? Yes, you may pay 100K in a base salary and commission, but if the salesperson is bringing in $2 million in new business with a 20% margin, you have a 4 to 1 return on your investment. This is a no brainer, and we strongly believe it’s the same set of issues when you’re investing in your social media presence.
